How can i make piping receive emails faster?

my agents asked me to improve email receiving as it takes 5mins for an email to appear in the queue.

i switched to piping with the understanding that this is as near 'instant' as possible.

however from initial testing, sending from yahoo and gmail, it appears to take even longer as emails appear 15min from being sent.

do i still need to activate cron?
what can i do to make receiving faster?

i am using shared hosting / cpanel.

run a cron job 1/ * * * nobody for the mail fetch

You can disable email fetch for auto-cron under Admin Panel > Emails > Settings, uncheck Fetch on auto-cron, and Save Changes.

Email piping is near instant as once the script receives the email it immediately processes it. Whereas with fetching it runs on a schedule and only parses X amount of emails at a time. If it took longer with piping then the delay is somewhere between your mail server and the script. Like maybe your server has an outbound delay or something like that. When in doubt contact your email admin and/or server admin to further debug the delay.

This is likely a cpanel issue. If you did setup the piping with the provided cpanel feature, you probably tripped with some factory default greylist antispam measure. The effect of a greylist measure is precisely a delay on the reception of valid messages. cpanel offers options to either bypass or whitelist messages in order to speed the receiving.
