It's 1.17.5 and 1.18.1 out now. (I was off before. I thought it was 1.18.5 out, but it's just a .1 there.)

I've seen some mentions that the older version is kept there because it's more stable. Both of these were out since Oct 2023. Is 1.17 really more stable? And if not at this point, is there more a stable and very latest release cadence going usually, or is just the current and second-to-last version that are usually supported? I'm thinking it's latest and second-to-last. I think that was in a recent Kevin post here.

Is there anywhere to see what the larger differences are between then? Or just a general gist of the changes from Kevin would be good time. I'd just assume 1.18 is better, maybe more features, probably the same but possibly more security in 1.18.

Both are just as stable as the other. 1.18.x just has a few more features. What you find on our site is our most stable offerings. We support the latest 1.18.x but also support the previous 1.17.x series just in case people can't run a database upgrade, etc. Let's say 1.19.x is released then 1.17.x support will be dropped and we will only support 1.19.x and 1.18.x from that point forward.

You can always find release notes here that explains what was added, updated, etc. Both series have the same security. Any security updates that are applied to 1.17.x are also applied to 1.18.x and vice versa if available.

The latest is always best as it has latest features.

    Cheers.

I guess it could be, which is "better," for whatever better would mean. Or, which is more secure? Or, which would take less future maintenance, in a case where the latest also needs more things fixed on it in the future possibly, so which is less work?
