Issue Configuring Outgoing Email in osTicket: "Connection Refused"

Hi,

I have a corporate email configured in Gmail (POP3/IMAP) with the following settings:

SMTP Server: mail.redfarmaignacio.com
Port: 587
Encryption: SSL
The email works perfectly in Gmail for sending and receiving messages. However, when I use the same settings in osTicket for outgoing mail, I get the following error:
Cannot connect to host; error = stream_socket_client(): Unable to connect to ssl://mail.redfarmaignacio.com:587 (Connection refused) (errno = 0)

I would appreciate any guidance to resolve this issue.

The email configuration has been working correctly in osTicket for months. However, according to the system logs, starting November 26, osTicket stopped sending notifications, showing the same error:
Cannot connect to host; error = stream_socket_client(): Unable to connect to ssl://mail.redfarmaignacio.com:465 (Connection refused) (errno = 0)

The error is simple. It states the connection was refused. That could be network issues, firewall issues, hosting provider restrictions, your server needs to be whitelisted in your provider, etc.

I have no idea as you have not determined what the actual issue is. Without knowing what the issue is one cannot suggest a fix. Have you contacted your hosting provider and/or mail provider? Have you attempted a connection to that host and port from the server’s CLI?
