Filename lenth overflow into margins

Hi All new here,

Apologies if asked before. i did search and couldn't find a similar issue

Having some issues as seen in pictures below with long filenames overflowing onto the margins. has anyone experienced this before?

Tried looking into code for a solution. it could do with truncating like in the reply at the bottom of the picture.

Not sure, what's the difference between the two? You scrubbed it out so hard to tell.

in the first file there are no "-" in the long part of the filename to break it up like in the second filename I guess. I thought about trying an alternative preg_replace in the class.format.php to replace all underscores with "-". but sadly it didnt change filename during upload phase

Yes that is the issue. - characters are seen as word separators whereas _ are not. So you would need to either be mindful of the file name before uploading it or modify the code to change the file name before saving. With the latter option you would be on your own as you are deviating from core when modifying the codebase.
