Just some thoughts on software options on the market

Just thought i would post this to maybe save someone some shopping time. Now i do suggest everyone do
their due diligence when looking for ticketing sofware, because everyone has their own unique need.

Over the last week and a half i have looked all over for a ticketing system that was not only perfect for small companies with little manpower but also that was half way between a ticketing system and a bug reporting systems.
There are some dedicated bug reporting systems out there, i think we all know who they are. However, what i have found is that one of the following steered me back to OsTicket each time.

They were too robust, way too many options for the small company which means a huge learning curve and that takes time.

They were not written in a language that i know so that means no customization on my part.

They were not up to date and some of them were actually still advertised but pretty much abandoned.

They had alot of bugs and security issues.

The visual presentation was horrible!

They were either dedicated to bugs only and no ticket service or a ticket service and no bug reporting.

They included AI which i really dont trust at this point in time.

Their docs were hard to follow and their videos had very bad speakers (unintelligible) or horrible audio.

The layout was just hard to follow and so was the setup.

Now im not saying that for what they are designed to do they probably do it well. But when my brain is wanting ticketing with a splash of bug management, none of them made sense to me. Now this could be because i used OsTicket in the past and im familiar with it more than the others. But i really did try to not let that effect my decision.

I even considered using wordpress with a ticket or project management plugin however its either one of the other. There is a very simple ticket plugin but it does nothing else, also there is a project management plugin that looks good but it also is dedicated to just that. So for me that led me right back to OsTicket.

So in closing i think OsTicket is the middle ground i am looking for, tickets with a splash of bug management.
