SMTP config successful but remote mailbox tab cant connect

Hi,

After reading several topics on here and also my host and also Osticket docs, i was able to get the outgoing SMTP config to connect and save without error.

However, the remote mailbox tab is not connecting.

cannot connect to host; error = stream_socket_client(): Unable to connect to ssl://example.com:995 (php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo for example.com failed: Name or service not known) (errno = 0 )

I have tried without the ssl:// and i have also tried several different ports. So i checked my personal third party mail client on my pc to compare settings. As you can see it was successful..

I assume it makes no difference but my mail client sits outside the server and can connect, but the osticket install sits inside the server and cant connect. Sort of strange...

There are no errors that i can find other than the one above.

My phpbb forum which this install is a subdir of connects using LOGIN auth for SMTP, not that it matters just thought i would share that.

Are POP and POP3 the same?

Am i missing something, any ideas? 🙂

Doesn’t appear to be the osTicket installation. That error is basically saying the host and/or port is not valid or could not be reached. Most likely a firewall issue, etc. You can google the error to see what I’m talking about.

Yes i have been looking at google results for over an hour now. Also contacted my host. I will update when i figure this out. 🙂 Thanks

Well before i even got a reply from my host, it is working now... lol all i can figure is that i left the page and loaded another tab then came back and disabled fetching then set up the remote data as the input fields were blank. Then it seemed to pass when i entered the pw in config area, then i enabled fetching again. So i sent a SMTP email and its working, and now the fetching is working as well once i set up the cron job.

Another tip for someone to check is to be sure when they created their email account to be sure the email folder is also created. I found several of mine that were not created (not the one i was testing) but if i had chosen one of the other ones yes it would have failed for sure.
