I just came back to osticket after many years (2009) and i installed the latest version. I am getting alot of entries in my error long. Regardless if they are errors or warnings they should not be happening.

You simply need to configure PHP to ignore warnings/deprecation notices.

We will eventually look into the warnings, etc. however we are more focused on v2.0.

Well i thought changing bootstrap.php would work but its not blocking them. I commented out the original
code just to test and even if set to 0 off it still shows them. Strange...

I guess i could create a local php ini but it should work the same in bootstrap dont you think?

Yes, but some instances of PHP will not allow overwriting core INI at the code level. I never figured out why that is but I just know on some instances of PHP (not sure if it's the instance itself or the server config, etc.) it will not allow you to overwrite INI settings in the code. So adding a new INI specific for the site or just updating the global INI file would be best option in these cases.

Got it, had to actually modify the default error reporting set in cPanel under
software -> select PHP version -> Options tab and set it there.... now no more warnings.. 🙂

remember this sets it for all domains, sub domains, folder sites, in this cpanel account. So i would
not turn it off, just set it according to your wishess to remove warnings.

Just wanted to update this as i found a better way to do this...

Leave your cpanel php settings in cpanel alone, dont change them unless nothing else works...

This should work.

If you dont have a .htaccess file in your osticket install then create one (it does not come with one out of the box)

create file .htaccess in the osticket directory
edit the file and add this code

<Files .htaccess>
order allow,deny
deny from all
</Files>

php_value error_reporting 0

The first code keeps prying eyes out of your htaccess file

the second code turns off ALL error reporting immediately when osticket loads. But then the
bootstrap.php file sets the correct error reporting just for the script.

Now the error reporting is set correctly according to the bootstrap file.

Done.... hope this helps...
