We are experiencing an error when opening a ticket, where the screen keeps loading for a long time and then the HTTP 500 error. but in the open tickets panel, the ticket only appears in duplicate.

Check your webserver/PHP error logs for any related errors. It's likely trying to send an alert email to the User and/or Agents but either failing to do so (which should log an error) or taking too long to connect to the mailserver (if configured).
