Email sending problem

I recently installed osTicket and I did the SMTP settings in the admin panel. I am getting mailer error when i set the

SMTP host as smtp.gmail.com and

SMTP port as 25.

I wish to test the email sending. Is there any posiiblites to send email via local host.?

You should check with gmail, but last time I checked they did not support port 25.m If memory serves me correctly you should use port 465 and change the encryption drop down to SSL.
