LDAP authentication for Clients not working osTicket (v1.17.2)

For some reason, LDAP authentication plugin for clients does not work for me. I am using Microsoft Active Directory.
I am a bit new to osTicket so maybe I must be doing something wrong.

I create the user, then register using the LDAP option. Is this the right way to go about it?

However, it works for Agents. These are the settings I have.

Not sure why it would not work. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Are you using PHP 8.1? If so downgrade to PHP 8.0 until we figure out what tf is going on with this. Also, there are a few other threads on this issue already where I've been unable to replicate this issue. Super werid. We are debugging with someone this week so hopefully we can find out what's going on.

It worked with PHP 8.0. Thank you.

Now I upgraded osTicket to v1.18 and it asked me to update my php as well. I can still continue using php 8.0 right?

No, v1.18 requires PHP 8.1-8.2. However we do have a new build of the LDAP plugin that should be compatible with PHP 8.1-8.2.
