Excessive errors processing emails... Please manually check the Fetch Folder

Since upgrading to osTicket 1.17.2 (and PHP 8.1), I'm getting tons of emails from "Mail Fetcher".
I was also getting the "This message is in Mime Format" error until I successfully configured osTicket to use SMTP.

However, I'm still getting the Mail Fetcher emails every 5 minutes, and now it says:

Excessive errors processing emails for ssl://...:995/POP (email address).

Please manually check the Fetch Folder () [2/30 - 0/2]

What is the Fetch Folder, and how do I check it manually? What can I do to make it stop sending error messages?

It appears there are emails in the configured fetch folder that cannot be processed by osTicket (for whatever reason). You will need to login to the mailbox and move the un-processable emails out of the fetch folder to a separate folder. You can find what folder you are fetching from by going to Admin Panel > Emails > Emails, click the email in question, click Remote Mailbox tab, and check the Fetch Folder setting.

I am facing the same errors. It started with upgrading to osTicket 1.17.2 and PHP 8.2.3. I already applied all the patches mentioned above. I also tried both unsecured connection and SSL.

Fetching the mails is working after applying this patch

But I still get the error "Excessive errors processing emails" in system log and via email. After examining the mailbox during cron i realized, osTicket is not able to delete the mails at first. The mails is fetched and a ticket is created, but the incoming mail ist still there. With the second cron job deleting the mail from mailbox works.

8.2 is not supported. Use 8.1 instead.

I switched to PHP 8.1.16 now. The error still occurs. Do you have any other ideas?

Got it working right now. The problem was the SSL connection to the exchange server. After the update I couln't get any connection, so I updated laminas-mail (https://github.com/osTicket/osTicket/pull/6312). This fixed the connection problems but the excessive mail errors occured as a result. The further patches didn't help here.

Finally I reverted all patches and changed the mailbox connection to insecure POP3 via port 110. Everything works great now.

P.S. Insecure plain POP3 connection with the patches installed results in excessive mail errors too.
