Migrating to file based attachments

Dear All:

Currently our osTicket stores file attachments in the database, and would like to have all attachments as files.

There is an extensive history tickets, 7 years in total. This history is used frequently so it needs to stay.

I wrote a test program in PHP to extract the ticket attachments, but not knowing the file storage
methodology it's incomplete.

For the Storage-FS plugin, will it migrate the existing database attachments, or will only new attachments
be stored as files ?

Automatically, only new attachments. Manually, you can run a command to migrate existing attachments.

Run the following command in your osTicket directory for more information:

/path/to/php manage.php file --help
/path/to/php manage.php file migrate --help

As a side note... I would highly suggest that you use a --limit the first time that you run.

Something like:
php setup/cli/manage.php file migrate --backend D --to F --limit=10

If the command works just fine, then up the limit to a sane number and run repeatedly until done. (heck might want to set a task scheduler to run it every few minutes over night. If you have a ton of attachments there is a chance that the script could run into PHP's max_execution_time directive.
