php-imap is required but is not supported on RHEL. Any alternative ?

Hi to all.

I tried to install the latest version of osTicket on a RHEL 9.1 system w/ php 8.0, but the php-imap extension is no longer available from RHEL7 onwards.

Shall I try to use another distro?
Can anyone suggest any latest Linux distro that supports the latest osTicket natively?

With v1.17.2 we switched from using native PHP-imap methods to Laminas-Mail package. I think that with Laminas-Mail you don't need php-imap extension but I could be wrong. You can definitely test to see. However if it is required then there is nothing you can do but switch distros.

KevinTheJedi @geofoo Just to confirm, I'm using OAUTH2 configuration for fetching email on Fedora (which also doesn't support the deprecated php-imap module any more) and it all works fine. I can't confirm whether or not it still works with basic authentication in use, but if you're using OAUTH2 it's all good to go! 🤓

It should be the same for all auth methods. IMAP is the same protocol regardless of the authentication method. So that sounds good!

RBGE Would you be able to share whether you needed any imap/mail package at all?

Would love to see what your 'remote Mailbox' page looks like - what settings you have for hostname/port/protocol ?

You do not need PHP-imap extension if you are running v1.17.5 or v1.18.1.
