how do i setup departments? i have gone thru the admin part and set them up there, they are showing in the sql database, but when i select 'new ticket', only billing and support show.

i went as far as deleting those 2 items from the DB and re-ordering it, but it STILL showed billing and support, which tells me that they are hard-coded in the program itself.

so, how can i get MY departments to show instead of those 2 default ones?

all of the other info entered in the admin screens ARE present, names, email address, admin name/pass, etc., so osticket IS connecting to the DB just fine...

Unable to confirm the problem that you are reporting. It works correctly in my production and test bed installations. It also worked in my 1.6ST installation.

Have you modified your installation?

Did you install from the download link http://www.osticket.com/downloads.php(http://www.osticket.com/downloads.php) or did you download from gihub?

no, i got it straight from the os ticket website.

and nothing in the code is modified...while i am a programmer, i know NOTHING about php.

well..i did modify a SMALL part of the footer.php...i included a link in it...BUT, this problem was going on BEFORE i made the mod...

my system stats to run this are above what is required also.

outside of the link on the footer, NOTHING has been changed.

as i said, i even went into the DB and REMOVED the billing and support departments and they STILL showed up.

i did this on 3 browsers: firefox v22, IE10, chrome. with ie and chrome, i DID flush the caches out.

made NO difference.

and as i said, it pulls all other settings from the DB w/o issue, such as users and p/w's...site settings...etc...those also are in the DB and are pulled in...everything BUT the departments...it is ALWAYS billing and support...even if i REMOVE them from the DB manually....they STAY (in the ticket form when putting in a new ticket)....implying that these 2 are hard-coded somewhere....

i am at a loss...

re-install

i went back and whacked EVERYTHING...directory..DB...whacked it all.

re-installed it

logged in as admin

once i made it 'active', saved changes in main settings

went to the department area, created a 'test' department

saved changes, shows in admin panel

FRESH install with NOTHING modified and the ONLY thing added was a department.

no go...or should i say...NO SHOW!

You are confusing "Your Side" with the "Customers Side", the customer only sees the "Help Topics", configured here: /scp/helptopics.php
