STARTLS as an authentication for Sending Email via SMTP??

Hello, good day.

I would like to know if there is a way of using STARTLS as an authentication for Sending Email via SMTP, because is the one my company email use.

When i try to configure the email in give this error:

authentication failure [SMTP: SMTP server does not support authentication (code: 250, response: linuxt1.towertravel.com.ar PIPELINING SIZE 104857600 VRFY ETRN STARTTLS ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES 8BITMIME DSN)]

Is there any way of making it work, rather than changing the authentication on the email server itself?

Use the correct port. I’m assuming you are trying to use port 25 or something which doesn’t accept authentication. You should refer to your email providers documentation on the correct information to use.

The port is set to 587 (STARTLS).

Then you will need to contact your hosting provider or systems administrator and your Mail provider for further assistance.

KevinTheJedi What would i tell then (SysAdmin or Hosting provider), the port is open (587), we even have the mail configure and functioning in clients as Thunderbird (PC) and/or BlueMail App (Android).

Could it be that osTicket don't support STARTLS as authentication?

Of course it’s supported; I’m using it right now. You need to make sure you are using the correct host name for SMTP. Check your providers documentation.

When you get that error it means the SMTP server you are attempting to connect to does not support authentication. To receive further support in this you’d have to reach out to your mail provider.

I thinking now that maybe y have something not right in my ubuntu server where i install de OsTicket, because i try now using and gmail and also a hotmail account, both using Startls in port 587, and it give me the same error.

The Email Server may have port 587 open, but there could be a firewall blocking the server where osticket is installed from from communicating outbound TO port 587. Its a common practice to limit which machines are allowed to contact email servers. I limit what machines can communicate with our email server it in my ogranizatiom so yours ( or hosting provider if you use one) may be doing the same.
