Upgrade from v1.9.7 to 1.16.3

Hi,
We have osticket v1.9.7 setup, now I want to upgrade the osticket to v1.16.3 which is the latest version I guess.
We have a lot of production tickets on the configured osticket.

Is there any way to upgrade without getting database errors?
The main point is that I want to upgrade osticket, and use the same database.

Help is appreciated.

Upgrading from any version post-1.6 (released circa 2008 or something) onwards can upgrade straight to 1.16.x without issues. Do you have examples of errors you are getting?

Make sure you make a full backup of the database and code files before attempting any upgrade so you can revert back in case of any issues.

Previously, I connected live (bk) database to the latest version of osticket and it removes all the data and updated the database schema.

You will need to provide more information as I'm not following what you are saying.

copy the database.

import it into a new database.
setup a test site.
add the new files to the test site.
run the upgrader against the test site/db.
If everything goes well... then upgrade the live site.
