Moving to v1.16.1

Hello,

I did a fresh install of v1.16.1 with php 8.0 and mysql 5.5 using IIS
I exported and imported my database from our old server which used xampp for the install.
When I copy of the ost-config.php over it tells me that the config has changed on the install page.
When I try to navigate to the osticket login page it tells me that "localhost is currently unable to handle this request."
Did I miss some files that need to move? I followed the youtube videos on migrating and setting it up for IIS.

As soon as I use a clean ost-config.php I am taken to the installation page.

Is it on the same server of a new server?
I'm wondering if the settings in your ost-config is pointing you some place wierd.

I did a fresh install on a 2019 server box.
The old server is a 2012 box using xampp.
I thought it would be as easy as moving the database and copying the ost-config over but I am running into an issue I can't seem to figure out.

It is very simple to migrate versions. But you need to let us know the exact version of the "old" osticket so we know exactly how old is that installation.
Keep in mind you need to have also in the config file the correct database credentials (as the old one had) and check also all requirements are met.

Jalmanz you did a fresh installation and you included the old os-config file.
Ok, first you need to check your database credentials connection are correct.
If they are ok, then run the setup path to upgrade your database to the then new 1.16.1 osTicket.
For what I understand, there is somewhere a configuration issue.

remalia I have checked my database credentials. I can log into the DBs with the credentials I have in the config file.
When I go to the installation page it shows that its installed.

Looks like your old server and new server URL are not updated, or the redirect on IIS may not be working
Also, did you make sure the permission is correct?

I'd recommend that you start over at this point.
create a new site in IIS.
Open a web browser and:

test and make sure it serves the page.
note: you do this by browsing to the new site you setup.
test and make sure it handles php.
note: you can do this by adding a file to the site called test.php which has the contents of <?php phpinfo(); ?>
Follow up note: make sure you delete this file after you are done with it.

create a new database.
set up credentials (user/pass) and grant privileges to the new database.
import the old database into it from your backup.
note: some backups/dumps include the database name in it. You can either comment this out in the .sql file or you have to use the same name that it was.

put the new files into the site.
copy your old ost-config.php to the new site.
edit the ost-config.php

ensure that the server, databasename, database username, and password are correct.

Open a browser and:

go to the new site.
It should present you with a osTicket login.
note: under no circumstances should you attempt to run the installer, as it is already installed.
Log in as an Agent, and it should present you with the upgrader if your files in the site are newer than the old site.

ntozier I did a fresh install but I am still stuck at not getting a website with the old ost-config.php in place.
I created a test page and it displays the php just fine.
I can navigate to my DB in heidisql just fine with the credentials in the config file.
Do I need to move some other files over to make this work?

presuming the files from the osTicket distro and the config file in place, and the DB server name, databse name, username, and password all match then there should not be anything else that you need to copy over.

That is what I receive.

I have the osticket files in the wwwroot folder like the video on youtube mentions.
I followed that to do the clean install. I used the youtube video to export the DB as well.
I set the password the same as the old server for the DB.

This says connection refused. Looks like your webserver is refusing to serve a page at localhost/osTicket/

Why would you remove the old config file?

If you are renaming the sample to ost_config then you are deleting the database connection information so osTicket redirects you to the installer because it thinks you need to install.

if you are going to do that you need to edit the renamed file with the server name, database name, database username, and database user's password.
