We are very new to OSTicket and just started configuring it and will probably be using it once everything has been configured the way we like it.

What I would like to do is the following:

When people create a ticket, I want them to make a selection between for example Hardware / Software
Once they made their selection, I want another dropdown field to pop-up, for example if they choose Hardware, they get the following options: Scanners/Printers/Desktops/Laptops in a dropdown field, when they choose Software, they get other options obviously.

Is this possible? And how can we configure this?

    What we call Dependent Fields is not a feature of osTicket at this time. With this being said we do have it on our feature request list and part of our v2.0 codebase rewrite.

    While what Kevin says is true, there is slight work around that people have been using for a while now.
    What you can do it use Help Topics as level 1. And then a custom form added to the Help Topic for level 2.

    User selects Help Topic: Hardware
    system adds custom form called "hardware info" to the ticket.
    which can have things like make/model, serial, etc.
