Upgrading old database from 1.9 to 1.15

Hi guys, so my osticket was installed on an old suse server version 1.9.
instead of going through the headache. i created a new server with ubuntu and installed a fresh version 1.15
i tried to just dump and restore but it doesnt work.
do i have to move the website files over as well and then do the update or is there a way i can tell 1.15 version to connect to the old version and update it

You would want to:

copy over your /include/ost-config.php file to the new server (edit the username/password/database name if you changed them)
dump the database on the old server
move it to the new server
import it into the new sql server

ntozier THANKS SO MUCH MAN... i did that first but it was only after googling the errors i notice it was because the dbname and user/password was causing issues to send an email that i figured it out.
