config schedule task and edit cron.php

Hello to everyone,
follow my setup:

host W10 (as in the installation video)
osTicket v. 1.16 --> https://osticket.com/download/
php vers. --> from 5.6 to 8.1 (in use 8.0)

follow cron.php file (locate in --> "C:\inetpub\wwwroot\api"):

v1.16 only supports PHP 8.0. Make sure the cron job is running PHP 8.0 as well.

Third screen shot. add a -f between your path/to/php and the /path/to/cron.php

I had issues getting this to work the way that I wanted to and put it into a .bat file and just use Task Ascheduler to call the .bat file instead. (Which has been posted about here on the forums previously so you could search to find posts about it.)

Set your Default Log Level in osTicket system settings to DEBUG, save changes, and let the cron run a few times. Then go to your dashboard system logs and see if it says “Cron executed []”. If so then the cron is working. If it is working then something is wrong with the mail connection.

Why do you have */5 * * * * root in your api/cron.php file??? You are not supposed to edit the core files at all for cron.

Now I have removed * / 5 etc ..

but up to 3 weeks ago it still worked!

However you are great and thanks for the help!

Glad that you got this resolved.

I also noticed that when you ran it manually you have an extra " in the command at the end.
