Hello Everyone,

I have just tried to upgrade my old version of 1.6 ST to the latest Version of 1.15.4 and my login user ID that I normally use with my 1.6 ST is not being accepted with this new version for some reason.

I have done step by step of Upgrading instrucctions, seen the videos and I seem to have done everything correctly, but just my Login In will not be accepted even after my MySQL Database is synchronized correctly with the os-config.php file that I have uploaded from Backup.

This is the Instructions Page from Osticket that I have used and wonder if anyone can give sometime of Info:
https://docs.osticket.com/en/latest/Getting%20Started/Upgrade%20and%20Migration.html

Sorry Forgot to mention that the video that its in the instructions shows very nicely that after being logged in my old 1.6 ST version that I had to do is just clic on the Dashbord, then Information tab and it would take you through the upgraded process, BUT I'm not able to even be logged in because if I select a PHP Version higher than 5.6, its not supported by this 1.6 ST version.

Attached is an image of the Log In Page that I cannot login in with my old user name and pass and also it looks kind of odd.

Upgrade does not affect your user/password, it may be something else
In order to help with your issue, you need to give your setup details, like OS, PHP, and Web server versions.

    Thank you for writing Ramrajone.

I use Osticket Version 1.6 ST, PHP 5.6, and Cpanel. Obviously once I have upgraded this OSticket with lastest version of 1.15.4, I have changed to PHP version 7.3.

    Note:
As I'm been reading some other Inquiries in this forum, it seems that most people that Upgrade, seem to first upgrade the Osticket to a smaller version let say from OsTicket 1.6ST> OsTicket 1.8>OsTicket 1.15.4, IS THIS THE CORRECT WAY OF DOING IT?

Yes, since your version is very old, there are a number of times database changes happen, so that smaller upgrade will help you. After 1.8 I believe you can jump to 1.15.4

      @ramrajone

Incorrect, you can actually do a full jump from 1.6 to latest without issues. We made sure to keep the upgrader backwards compatible to all older versions (from 1.6+) so no matter what you're running you can always do a direct upgrade. This makes it so much easier for people.

      Cheers.

Good to know, @rmichel was having an issue, so I guess the issue might be something else

I did not know which version was last, before you can jump, now I know Thank you

My thought was the issue with the Versions of PHP of 5.6 that works with 1.6 ST to the newer version of PHP that does not work with 1.6 ST at the time of upgrading, and in reality I had to toggle back and forth between PHP versions to confirm the new Install of latest version of OS, so my think is that it created the problem there, but if I could get anyone helps would be greatly appreciated.

At this point you should restore the database from a backup of before the attempted upgrade. Then you should fully replace all the osTicket files on the server with the new files (from upload/ folder) you download from our website (keeping include/ost-config.php file). Then you should visit osTicket in a new/different web browser to avoid caching issues (browsers these days are horrible with caching). Next you should be directed to login. Once you login you should see the upgrade wizard and you just click through and follow the steps. After the upgrade is complete you should be good to go.

          Cheers.
